HOAXES AND RADICALISM MUST NOT BE GIVEN SPACE!” — Lampung Labor Party Calls for Collective Resistance, Supports Police in Safeguarding Indonesia’s Unity.
Kabar Negeri Plus | Bandar Lampung — Threats to national unity no longer come solely in the form of open conflict. In the digital era, waves of misinformation, provocation, as well as the spread of radical and intolerant ideologies are increasingly seen as serious challenges that can erode social cohesion if not addressed collectively.
In response to these concerns, the Executive Committee (Exco) of the Lampung Labor Party has expressed its full support for the Indonesian National Police in maintaining public security and order, particularly through efforts to prevent the spread of hoaxes, radical ideologies, and intolerance that could threaten the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Chairman of the Lampung Labor Party Exco, Sulaiman Ibrahim, emphasized that safeguarding national unity is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement agencies, but rather a shared obligation of all elements of society.
“The integrity of the NKRI is non-negotiable. We fully support the Police’s efforts to combat hoaxes, radicalism, and intolerance. Synergy between the community and security forces must continue to be strengthened so that a safe, peaceful, and conducive environment can be maintained,” Sulaiman stated on Friday (May 30).
According to him, the rapid flow of information circulating through social media is often exploited by certain groups to spread divisive narratives that can fragment society.
Therefore, collective vigilance is necessary to ensure that people are not easily provoked by information whose accuracy has not been verified.
He also highlighted the importance of involving community organizations, media organizations, religious leaders, traditional leaders, and educators in building a strong social defense against ideological threats that contradict national values.
“Hoaxes and radicalism are real threats that can damage the foundations of national unity. The roles of the press, community leaders, religious figures, and the police are highly strategic in educating the public, especially the younger generation, so they are not easily influenced by ideologies that conflict with the Constitution and the spirit of diversity,” he said.
Furthermore, Sulaiman called on all members of society to strengthen solidarity, maintain harmony among citizens, and uphold the spirit of mutual cooperation in daily life.
He stressed that security and stability cannot be achieved without collective awareness and commitment to preserving unity amid the diversity that serves as one of Indonesia’s greatest strengths.
“When all elements of the nation stand united, the space for hoax spreaders, provocateurs, and groups seeking to divide the country becomes increasingly limited. Unity is this nation’s strongest fortress,” he added.
The Lampung Labor Party hopes that continued collaboration among communities, social organizations, media institutions, religious leaders, and law enforcement agencies will help nurture a generation that is not only intelligent and critical in processing information, but also deeply committed to preserving unity, peace, and the integrity of the NKRI amid the challenges of modern times.
“Fighting hoaxes, rejecting radicalism, and preserving national unity are not merely slogans. They are shared responsibilities for the future of an Indonesia that remains safe, peaceful, and united within the framework of the NKRI,” Sulaiman concluded.
